Extracurricular Culture at Sparhawk

At Sparhawk, you will choose from a variety of extracurricular activities and programs after school and during the evening hours. You can take private music lessons or join a club. We also hold monthly “meet ups” where groups of students and teachers meet, engage in an activity and socialize. Meet-ups have included activities such as going to the movies, Topsfield Fair, Salem at Halloween, Bota Borg, white water rafting and ski trips.

Clubs and Societies

All Sparhawk students join at least one club to supplement and balance their academic life. Clubs are student-run organizations with faculty advisers that meet one day a week after school.

Leadership Opportunities

Student Advisory Board

The Student Advisory Board (SAB) is a group of students who meet with the Upper School Director monthly to provide the student perspective to the administration. As a member of the SAB, you solicit input from other students to advise the director on issues of concern, the hiring of new faculty and curricular changes.

Student Leadership Council

The Student Life Council (SLC) is an organization that helps with social planning. As a member of the SLC, you would help with such events as International Day, Winter Semi-formal, Spirit Week and the Prom. The council holds fundraising events throughout the year to help sponsor these events. Any student in grades 8-12 is encouraged to apply for an officer position or sign-up to be a member.
