Due to Covid-19, we will be utilizing homeroom spaces, building occupancies and open air spaces differently which is indicated on your child's class list below. 'Specials' teachers (Art, Music, Spanish, Athletics, and SEL (Social Emotional Learning/Mindfulness), while on campus, will be taught differently, in order to minimize cross exposure to different groups. These subjects will be taught to each classroom on a condensed (meaning several times a week) rotating 3 week basis to limit teachers exposure to one classroom at a time.

Distance Learning Preparations to Consider
Online Schedule
Each homeroom teacher will provide a clear, full day schedule which includes consistent time for language arts, math and science in developmentally
There will be whole class, small group and 1:1 meetings. These schedules will look different for each grade level but follow closely to the in-person classroom schedule. Developmental guidelines will be followed to limit the length of each meeting and number of meetings. There will be time to engage with others and time to do independent work when the teacher will be there for questions and support. Your child will log on in the morning and keep their screen open - ready to jump into the next item on their schedule.
To-Dos Before Distance Learning Starts:
-
Create a School Space
-
Watch Google Classroom parent tutorial or parent/student tutorial.
Components of the School Space:
In addition to the helpful suggestions listed below, please see this email for some suggestions specifically for children ages 3-6. Our overarching understanding is even while learning from a distance, children will be engaged actively and interactively by doing and experiencing rather than as passive observers. The online classroom provides a space for community engagement through story and conversation, but also a strong tether to instruction, teacher guidance, and support while the child is engaging with materials in different ways.
-
A small area of a room that can be dedicated for your child for their online schooling
-
A dedicated device, please let us know if your child does not have one to use every day and we will lend you a Chromebook
-
A good, flat work surface (desk)
-
A comfortable chair
-
Good lighting
-
Free of distractions and toys (1 comfort stuffy is just fine!)
-
A separate comfy spot nearby for snuggling up with a book.
-
A large enough space in front of the work surface where chair can be pushed aside and children can be led in yoga and fun active body games
-
An organized place for supplies
-
Most items will be sent home in Learning Kits with materials provided by school.
-
To-Dos During Distance Learning - Set the stage for a Full Day of Learning:
-
Get up at the same time during the week
