SPOTLIGHT SCHOOL NEWS CLASSROOM HIGHLIGHTS Learning About Chemistry In Life Chemistry is found in your everyday life in the foods you eat, the air you breathe, cleaning chemicals, your emotions and literally every object you can see or touch. While some may be obvious, some other might surprise you. Our high school chemistry students explored objects like, bubbles, candles and marshmallows during their lab this week. Angles & Forces This week, sixth grade math students requested book stands for their (very heavy) text books. It wouldn't be Sparhawk, if we didn't present the problem back to them as a challenge! The class was tasked with creating their own stands using recycled materials. Students measured, explored angles and forces, and were able to design stands that supported their books. Getting To Know All About You The grade 4/5 class engaged in a hands-on beginning of year activity. They traced one student's entire body, and then label the different parts of the body with ideas, likes and dislikes as a way of getting to know each other. For example, the traced head is labeled with all of the things that the students want to learn this year, and the belly is labeled with all of their favorite foods. The feet? Those are labeled with all of the places they have been to lately, and the ears are labeled with all of their favorite types of music. What a great way to get to know each other and get excited for the upcoming school year! IMPORTANT INFORMATION Download The Portal App In order to streamline information and make your life easier as a parent, we offer a free portal app. This will quickly and concisely highlight the important in formation for your child. If you have more than one child that attends Sparhawk, you can see all pertinent information in one place. Your login is the same as the portal login. Download here. Questons or need help?
