Technology and Computer Lab

The computer technology program at Sparhawk is designed to give all students computer skills that they will need in their academic and professional careers. In addition to learning the basics such as Internet research skills and using Microsoft Office, students are also exposed to many other facets of computer technology such as networking, animation, video editing, web design, digital imaging and more. As much as possible, work in the computer lab is integrated with students' work in other classes allowing them to come up with creative ways to present assignments and develop skills needed to do their homework effectively. Students are required to work with both PC's and Macintoshes to gain experience with both. Students are also shown various programs, websites, tips and tricks that will make their personal computing experiences more productive and enjoyable.

The philosophy and ideas behind technology are also covered. 'Technology' not being just computer technology, but subjects such as the history of technology, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and much more. Lectures on both the positive and negative impacts of technology are presented and followed up with group discussions. Our technology curriculum is designed to give students they will need both personally and professionally in our fast changing world.
